As palletized logistics advance toward higher automation, companies must both maintain stable cycle times and handle high-center or irregularly stacked loads. The cantilever wrapper’s “load stays still — machine rotates” method keeps pallets stable during wrapping and is especially advantageous for tall, light or unstable stacked goods. The arm rotates the film carriage around the load and typically supports automatic detection, auto film loading/cutting and continuous throughput. This technology has found broad usage in packaging lines for food & beverage, chemicals, paper and building materials.

Stationary pallet design enhances safety for high-center loads
Unlike turntable units, rotary-arm wrapping machines keep the pallet static while the arm rotates around it, which reduces the risk of tilting or load instability. Typical wrapable heights range from 800–2000 mm, and arm rotational speeds are adjustable between about 6–18 rpm to match product weight and stability. The arm features auto-return and emergency-braking structures for safe, smooth rotation. The lift column often uses chain drive with VFD speed control so film coverage from bottom to top is uniformly adjustable. Pre-stretch carriages can stretch film to around 250%, improving adhesion and lowering material use.
Automatic film feed/cut supports unmanned lines
Auto film clamp and cutting mechanisms allow the film to be handled fully automatically so the package can finish with a neat tail. For continuous production lines, this reduces manual interventions and helps maintain stable cycle times.
Adaptable to various conveyor configurations

For example, building materials with sharp corners can use extra top/bottom reinforcement; neatly stacked food pallets can use standard spiral wrapping for consistent protection.
Performance in unstable or high-throughput scenarios
For distribution centers or factories with frequent shipments, rotary-arm wrappers reduce safety risks caused by rotating loads. These machines are suited to lighter, taller or irregular stacks—examples include beverage pallets, powdered milk pallet stacks and tall carton pallets. Once the pallet is sensed in position the machine automatically runs the wrap program and transfers the pallet to the outbound area. In chemical plants, where drum stacks have a concentrated center of gravity, rotary-arm wrapping avoids the instability that turntable rotation can produce.
In one food plant case, replacing manual wrapping with a cantilever wrapper that integrated with the existing conveyor resulted in stable packaging cycles of 20–40 pallets per hour and greatly reduced film displacement during long-distance transport. The cantilever wrapper’s design — rotating arm with stationary pallet — makes it a strong solution for high-center, irregular or unstable pallet packaging in automated lines.
